Tehran Province ( Ostan-e Tehran) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It covers on area of 18,909 square kilometres (7,301 sq mi) and is located to the north of the central plateau of Iran.
Qom Province (Ostan-e Qom ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran with 11,237 km2, covering 0.89% of the total area in Iran. It is in the north of the country, and its provincial capital is the city of Qom. It was formed from part of Tehran Province in 1995. In 2005, this province had a population of approximately 2,000,000 out of which 91.2% resided in urban areas and 8.8% in rural vicinities. The province contains one city, four counties, nine rural districts, and 256 villages.
Markazi Province (Ostan-e Markazi ), the classical Iraq-i Ajam, more recently Arak--is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. The word markazi means central in Persian. Markazi lies in western Iran. Its capital is Arak. Its population is estimated at 1.35 million. The present borders of the province date to the 1980s, when the province was split into the current Markazi and the Tehran Province, with portions being annexed by Esfahan, Semnan Province, and Zanjan.
The Qazvin Province (Ostan-e Qazvin ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the north-west of the country, and its center is the city of Qazvin. The province was created in 1993 out of part of Tehran Province and includes 20 cities: Qazvin, Takestan, Abyek, Buin-Zahra, Eqhbalieh, Mohammadieh, Alvand, Esfarvarin, Mahmood Abad Nemooneh, Khoram Dasht, Ziä Abad, Avaj, Shäl, Danesfahan, Abgarm, Ardägh, Moallem Keläyeh, Razmian Kouhin and Bidestan in the form of four townships (chief cities) contains 18 sections, 44 rural districts, and 1543 villages.
Gilan Province (Ostan-e Gilan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It lies along the Caspian Sea, just west of the province of Mazandaran, east of the province of Ardabil, north of the provinces of Zanjan and Qazvin. The northern part of the province is part of territory of South (Iranian) Talysh. At the center of the province is the main city of Rasht. Other towns in the province include Astara, Astaneh-e Ashrafiyyeh, Fuman, Lahijan, Langrud, Masouleh, Manjil, Rudbar, Roudsar, Shaft, Talesh, and Soumahe Sara.
Ardabil Province (Ostan-e Ardabil ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the north west of the country, bordering the Republic of Azerbaijan and the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Zanjan, and Gilan. Its centre is the city of Ardabil. The province was established in 1993 from the eastern part of East Azerbaijan and the northern part of Gilan.

East Azerbaijan Province (Azarbaijan-e Sharqi ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the northwest of the country, bordering Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the provinces of Ardabil, West Azerbaijan, and Zanjan. Its capital is Tabriz.
9. Azerbejdżan Zachodni
West Azerbaijan Province (Ostan-e Azarbaijan-e Gharbi) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the northwest of the country, bordering Turkey, Iraq and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the provinces of East Azerbaijan, Zanjan and Kurdistan.
Kurdistan Province or Kordestan Province or Kurdestan Province (Ostan-e Kordestan, Kurdish: , Parezgeha Kurdistane) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran, not to be confused with the greater geographical area of Iranian Kurdistan. The province of Kurdistan is 28,817 km2 in area which encompasses just one-fourth of the Kurdish inhabited areas of Iran or Iranian Kurdistan . It is located in the west of Iran and bound by Iraq on the west, the province of west Azerbaijan to its north, Zanjan to the northeast, Hamedan to the east and Kermanshah to the south. The capital of Kurdistan Province is the city of Sanandaj (Kurdish: Sinne). Other counties with their major cities are Marivan, Baneh, Saqqez, Qorveh, Bijar, Kamyaran, Dehgolan, Diwandarreh and Sarvabad.
Hamedan Province (Ostan-e Hamadan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Its center is Hamedan city. The province of Hamedan covers an area of 19,546 km2. In the year 1996, Hamedan province had a population of approximately 1.7 million people. Other major cities of Hamedan province are: Toyserkan, Nahavand, Malayer, Asad Abad, Bahar, Razan, Kabudrahang.
12. Kermanszah (dawniej Bachtaran)
Kermanshah Province (Ostan-e Kermanshah ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. The province was known from 1969 to 1986 as Kermanshahan and from 1986 to 1995 as Bakhtaran.
Ilam Province (Ostan-e Ilam ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the south-west of the country, bordering Iraq. Its provincial center is the city of Ilam. Covering an area of 19,086 square kilometers, the cities of the province are Ilam, Mehran, Dehloran, Dareh Shahr, Sarable, Eyvan, Abdanan and Arkwaz. It neighbors Khuzestan province in the south, Lurestan province in the east, Kermanshah province in the north and Iraq in the west with 425 kilometers of common border. The population of the province is approximately 540,000 people (2005 estimate).
Khuzestan Province (Ostan-e Khuzestan) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the southwest of the country, bordering Iraq's Basra Province and the Persian Gulf. Its capital is Ahvaz and covers an area of 63,238 km2.
16. Czahar Mahal wa Bachtijari
Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province (Ostan-e Chahar-Mahal-o Bakhtiyari ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It lies in the southwestern part of the country. Its capital is Shahrekord. It has an area of 16,332 square kilometers and a population of 842,000 (2005 estimate).
17. Kohgiluje wa Bujerahmad
Bushehr Province (Ostan-e Bushehr ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the south of the country, with a long coastline onto the Persian Gulf. Its center is Bandar-e-Bushehr, the provincial capital. The province has nine counties: Bushehr, Dashtestan, Dashti, Dayyer, Deylam, Jam, Kangan, Ganaveh and Tangestan. In 2005, the province had a population of approximately 816,115 people.
Fars Province ( Ostan-e Fars pronounced [f(r)s]), originally spelled Pars ()), is one of the 31 provinces and known as Cultural Capital of Iran. It is in the south of the country and its center is Shiraz. It has an area of 122,400 km2. In 2006, this province had a population of 4.57 million people, of which 61.2% were registered as urban dwellers, 38.1% villagers, and 0.7% nomad tribes. The etymology of the word "Persian" (Pars-ian : ) is derived from the cultural capital of Iran and found in many ancient names associated with Iran.
Hormozgan Province (Ostan-e Hormozgan) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the south of the country, facing Oman and UAE. Its area is 70,697 km2 (27,296 sq mi), and its provincial capital is Bandar Abbas. The province has 14 islands located in the Persian Gulf, and 1,000 km (620 mi) of coastline.
21. Sistan i Beludżystan
Sistan and Baluchestan Province (Ostan-e Sistan-o Baluchestan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the southeast of the country, bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan and its capital is Zahedan. The province is the largest in Iran, with an area of 181,785 km2 and a population of 4.4 million. The counties of the province are Chabahar, Qasar-qand, Dalgan, Hirmand, Iranshahr, Khash, Konarak, Nikshahr, Saravan, Sarbaz, Soran, Zabol, Zaboli, Zahedan and Zehak.
Kerman Province (Ostan-e Kerman ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Kerman is located in the south-east of Iran with its administrative center in the city of Kerman. Mentioned in ancient times as the Achamenid satrapy of Carmania, it is the second largest province of Iran with an area of 180,726 km2 , that encompasses nearly 11 percent of the land area of Iran. The population of the province is about 3 million (9th in the country).7
Esfahan Province ( Ostan-e Esfahan), also transliterated as Esfahan, Espahan, Sepahan or Isphahan, is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is located in the center of the country. Its capital is the city of Isfahan.
Semnan Province (Ostan-e Semnan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the north of the country, and its center is Semnan. The province of Semnan covers an area of 96,816 square kilometers and stretches along the Alborz mountain range and borders to Dasht-e Kavir desert in its southern parts.
Mazandaran Province (Ostan-e Mazandaran ) is a Caspian province in the north of Iran.Located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, it is bordered clockwise by the Golestan, Semnan, Tehran, Alborz, Qazvin, and Gilan provinces. Sari is the largest and the capital city of Mazandaran province
Golestan Province (Ostan-e Golestan ) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran, located in the north-east of the country, south of the Caspian Sea. Its capital is Gorgan. Golestan was split off from the province of Mazandaran in 1997. It has a population of 1.6 million (2006) and an area of 20,380 km2. The major townships of the province are: Gorgan, Gonbad Kavoos, Bandar Torkaman, Bandar Gaz, Aliabad-e katul, Kord Kooy, Fenderesk and Minoo Dasht.
28. Chorasan Północny
North Khorasan Province (Ostan-e Khorasan-e Shomali ) is a province located in northeastern Iran. Bojnord is the centre of the province. Other counties are Shirvan, Esfarayen, Maneh and Samalqan, Jajarm, Faroj and Germeh. North Khorasan is one the three provinces that were created after the division of Khorasan in 2004.
29. Chorasan-e Rezawi
azavi Khorasan Province (Ostan-e Khorasan-e Rażavi ) is a province located in northeastern Iran. Mashhad is the centre and capital of the province. Other cities and townships are Quchan, Dargaz, Chenaran, Sarakhs, Fariman, Torbat-e Heydarieh, Torbat-e Jam, Taybad, Khaf, Roshtkhar, Kashmar, Bardaskan, Nishapur, Sabzevar, Gonabad, Kalat, Khalil Abad and Mahvalat. Razavi Khorasan is one of the three provinces that were created after the division of Khorasan Province in 2004.
30. Chorasan Południowy
Alborz Province was formed by division of Tehran Province into two provinces, after the Parliamentary approval on June 23, 2010, and was introduced as 31st province of Iran.
